Yes! We gave in and accepted the Challenge this year so Zitec had two teams participating at the Mamaia 2011 Triathlon! To see how we did, start scrolling.
First things first – the Triathlon Challenge 2011
Let’s start by giving you an overview of this year competition: there were over 600 participants at the start line of this 3rd edition of the Mamaia Triathlon, a competition which is considered the main Romanian mass sport event since 2009. The race was divided into different categories – Olympic, Sprint, Relay, Corporate Challenge and Trikids Challenge – and the participants were supposed to give their best at swimming, biking and, of course, running!
Zitec teams for the win!
So the big day started with some not-so-good looking clouds, lots of excitement and misunderstandings regarding the areas where the team members had to pass the chips from one to another.
At about 10 am our two teams – Zitec and Trinamicii – were ready to start the race in the Relay category! So in no time, the participants were already swimming in Lake Siutghiol, for a 750m race.
After about 6-7 minutes, the first swimmers had already finished the race, and the crowd was applauding them over and over again. Our swimmers did well, too, considering their previous training (:P), they passed the chips to the bikers and the 20 km biking race started, followed by a 5 km running route. For the two Zitec teams it all lasted about 1 hour and 22 minutes so they finished on 22nd and 26th, out of 53 teams at the Relay category! That’s a good start, don’t you think?
Have a look at the final results, by category and keep your finger crossed for us next year!
