Wondering how the Zitec journey started?
We started in 2003 with our co-founders, Alexandru and Simona Lăpușan, driven by ambition and a shared belief in making a positive impact through technology. From a small founder-led company, we have steadily grown into a major technology partner for international organizations.
Over the years, our team expanded, we moved into bigger offices and we built a strong people-first culture. As we grew, we also reached important milestones: becoming a Microsoft Premier Partner and Google Premier Partner, while also launching our own digital products, including Regista, Mirro and Movacy.
Along the way, we earned recognition through multiple workplace, employer, cloud, cybersecurity and industry awards.
Today, our refreshed Zitec brand reflects more than 23 years of technical expertise, scale and innovation, while staying true to who we are: tech-savvy, genuine and proudly people-first.

The Zitec journey: growth, innovation, impact
The world we were born into
The world ran on Windows XP. We browsed with Internet Explorer 6 and Netscape 7. The first iPods existed, Salesforce had pioneered the concept of SaaS, and Wikipedia was just starting. Phones were for calls, and the Nokia 1100 was king.
Our founders, colleagues from the Polytechnic University in Bucharest, felt they could build things better than they could at their current jobs, where they lacked the freedom to apply their ideas.
First steps
Work began on the Paravion project, for which Zitec created the entire product including name, brand identity and online presence.
Oh, this is when YouTube and Google Maps were born. The term "selfie" started to become popular, so we took one. The best part? Star Wars Episode III was released.
Hello, new home
The team grew to 15 colleagues (some of which are still with us today), and so, we moved to a new office. Simona, the co-founder, just announced she’ll be having a baby. 🎉
Team, assemble!
Long story short, our team grew to 25 colleagues. The first dedicated HR person was hired.
We released our very own tools
We launched one of our first cloud-native applications focused on high availability and scalability. Zitec Internal Tools were launched to standardize maintenance warnings and application performance monitoring.
Plus, we created the company’s football team. ⚽
Culture & Growth Became Key Priorities
The first formal 360-degree evaluation system was introduced. This system was the seed that would eventually grow into what Mirro is today. 💗
The "Fun Room" was launched as a surprise for the team. Also, the first official Zihack (internal hackathon) was organized.
And if we’re talking business, Zitec's revenue surpassed €1 million.
Time to level up
We became a certified Microsoft Azure partner and expanded our reach into enterprise solutions and cloud consulting. The team moved to a much larger office in Phoenix Tower.
Scaling & learning times
The team reached 100 colleagues. We launched Regista, a software suite to digitize document management in Romanian public institutions, born from a Zihack project.
Speaking of Zitec people, the Ziband was born during a Zihack and held its first surprise concert.
We created more strategic partnerships
We acquired Inotec, adding web design and digital marketing to our portfolio to deliver end-to-end solutions.
eMAG (backed by Naspers) became a strategic shareholder. They empowered us to invest more boldly in our own products.
We opened the first office in Brașov to connect our growing remote team and announced our project collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA). The team won first place at the Regatta IT championship.
PS: White Rabbit, our custom beer, literally reached a ton in production.

Brick by brick, we built better products & culture
We moved into a new 1,700 m² sci-fi and rock-themed headquarters in Bucharest. What a great decision!
In 2018, we officially launched Mirro, our first major HR and performance management SaaS product spin-off, and acquired two more digital agencies (Bright and Symbolic).
On the business front, we became an official Magento and VTEX partner. Zitec won multiple "Best Workplace" and "Employer of the Year" awards.
A time to test our resilience & recognition
We transitioned instantly to a fully remote model during the COVID-19 pandemic, holding our first 10-hour online All Hands & Party.
Acquired Under Development Office, expanding our services into native mobile applications. This was also when we achieved the Google Cloud Premier Partner status
Zitec achieved CREST and NIS Auditor certifications, and won "Company of the Year" at the ANIS Gala 2020, plus multiple "Employer of the Year" awards. Yay for us! Or should we say “Kudos”, like Mirro does?
Strengthening partnerships
In a year of great recognitions, we were named Google Cloud EMEA Partner of the Year for Social Impact and Microsoft Partner of the Year.
Our time to step into new horizons
SAMEDAY, our client since 2017, became a shareholder. We’re actively strengthening our role in logistics and e-commerce innovation. On top of that, we launched Movacy, a smart end-to-end software solution for last-mile parcel delivery.
New brand
We kicked off the year with major news: we joined forces with Equilobe in a strategic move designed to accelerate our international expansion.
Next, we elevated our brand to reflect where we are today: deep technical authority and scale, built on 23+ years of experience, while staying true to what makes us: tech-savy, genuine and proudly people-first.
